Internet gateway
- Internet gateway can be
considered as an eyes and ears of VPC to communicate with outside world or
other AWS services also. It is horizontally scaled, redundant, and highly
available VPC component.
- It supports both IPv4 and
Ipv6 traffic.
- VPC without Internet gateway
does not have internet access.
- A subnet can have single IG
associated to it.
- It is used to perform NAT
for instance that have been assigned public IPv4 addresses and to map VPC route
table for internet-routable traffic.
